I know it's old hat, but nevertheless, I'm interested in the comparisons:
In 1988:
Barack Obama had just entered Harvard Law School, where he was invited to join the Harvard Law Review while still in his first year.
John McCain wasa prisoner in the Hanoi Hilton in his first year in the Senate, and serving on the Armed Services Committee, after 6 years in the House of Representatives. Prior to that he had been VP for public relations at his father-in-law's beer distributorship.
Joe Biden was in his 16th year in the Senate, and was chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, which was preparing to consider (and not rubberstamp) the nomination of Robert Bork to the Supreme Court
And Sarah Palin was honin' her teleprompter skillz:
What was I doing in 1988? Quitting my job as a book editor to go to grad school and get an MFA in printmaking. Hey, it seemed like a good idea at the time. Good thing I'm not running for public office.
