...at one of my favorite places: Peking duck (only, shouldn't that be Beijing duck nowadays?), those amazing little pork and crab buns, shredded eel with chives, winter melon soup, something involving cress...

And of course we ordered the traditional xmas dish: mother-and-child reunion.

This being New York, the joint was jammed. Once again, I give thanks to the hegemonic Christian religion for giving me a long weekend in late December, just for the hell of it. As it were.

Thanks, folks!

On very rare occasions, hegemony rocks.

Happy holidays from the imperialist wasteland!

SLA... Slytherin Liberation Army? Those are the folks who kidnapped Hermione and brainwashed her into joining them on the infamous raid on Gringott's, right? And she changed her name to Tania for a while?

Uh, happy holidays to you too.

Yup. Married a dementor from Azkaban after she was appreheneded during a raid on SLA headquarters. Does some film work these days... the revolution could not be televised, but it looks nice on a big screen.

Your icons are the cutest. I love the SLA: Hermione looks *fantastic* in a beret. And thank you for your sweet message.

Mal: YUM. With extra yum. Care to name the restaurant?

Joe's Ginger on Mott above Canal. Yum indeed. I think it's related to Joe's Shanghai on Pell St, also good but more crowded.

I've been to Joe's Shanghai, but not Joe's Ginger. And some time last year I passed what is supposed to be the Original Joe's, in Elmhurst, pretty much by accident. [livejournal.com profile] twotoedsloth and I had gone on a Quest for Indian Chinese. Which was yummy and new but not worth a second voyage that arduous.

Ack, I have to go there on Monday for a party. Jackson Heights or something. The 7 train.

*trembles*

Jackson Heights is a piece of cake. Just one change-whatever you're on to the 7--and it isn't even very far. At least that's my experience. And that Elmhurst day, it was a Sunday, and the subway was fried... the 7 is actually quite fun.
