I am so proud of my city. (And it is my city, even if I haven't lived there since I grew up in the suburbs and went away.)

Nice article by McFadden, too. The bemused Republicans, "some of whom regard protestors as little more than wild-eyed liberal wastrels." The crowds "packed as dense as broccoli florets." Mmmmmm, broccoli.

You really are something else (if by something else I mean f*cking awesome, of course!). :) I am rec'cing an LJ to you, I don't know much about the LJ-er and I don't even know if you read much of any fan fic, but circe_tirgana has a five part fic that makes lovely use of layering, language and nuance to drive a short five part fic (thus far) along with all of its dusky back story. For some reason, the language of it has reminded me of you.
