Well, I knew February was going to be a bitch, but I thought that meant I was going to be reallyreallybusy at conferences and things, giving papers on panels and that guff. Lots of time spent going through security in airports without decent coffee. I got the last bit right.
Then my stepfather died, after a long illness. Then my mother, who was perfectly healthy 2.5 weeks ago, was diagnosed with rapid-onset leukemia & is currently taking a crash course in chemistry. And P, with truly brilliant timing, is off in Angola or some place that he swears is not a war zone.
Some months are better than others.
I see that I have much to catch up on.

Date: 2004-03-02 12:07 am (UTC)Whatever you have to deal with, it's going to take more out of you than anyone around you (especially work related) will want to acknowledge. Is my experience. So (I'm trying to find a way to say this that doesn't sound like horrible American TV)--do go through those stupid rituals of acting like you're your own coolest babysitter, and read yourself stories and tell yourself you don't have to finish your homework and you can have extra pudding and watch a bit more telly and all of that. And if you can bring yourself to actually say nice things about yourself to yourself, try doing it (not easy).
*hugs*
Oh and a thanks for your comments on the Isis essay! Will have to respond tomorrow. Couldn't sleep so got up for a beer and a fic.

So is this the excuse I've been waiting for to buy the 6-disk La Femme Nikita Season 1 DVD? Well, I can think of easier ways to justify the expense, but hey, I'll take it.

"Stop that rat before she posts again!"
(I don't know if you saw that thing about EL's "rules": I broke two in two words.
