So I'm sitting in a blue state that is bluer than the sapphire eyes of Elizabeth Taylor, thinking about doing some campaign work this weekend. Maybe some voter reg tomorrow? But I'm realizing that the real need right now is to get huge great monster wads of cash into the Obama campaign, so that they can buy saturation ads in every swing state for the next two months, and paid precinct workers, and get out the vote staff, and buy expensive skilled consultants to pitch to specialized constituencies.
I've given $200 so far and will squeeze out some more each week til election day. I think I can manage $500, but if I can pick up a little bit of freelance this month I'll do more.
Yes, o best beloved, it is time for all of us to pony up.
Here's the website:

And here's the link to Fundrace:
http://fundrace.huffingtonpost.com/, where you can check to see who among your associates has bought some democracy and who has not. In the best spirit of the W Years, check up on your family, your highminded friends, your coworkers, your neighbors, and then go after them. It's way easier than cold-calling at phone banks.
Remember: you do not need to be a registered voter to donate. You don't need to reside in the USA to donate (though you do need to be a US citizen or permanent resident). An individual can give up to $2,300 per election, so if you donated before the primary you can give a full $2,300 again.
