Pointless nattering
May. 30th, 2003 06:22 pmTucked into the NYTimes this morning was a gigantic gatefold promo poster for Pirates of the Caribbean (Coming Soon to a Theater Near Me!), with veryverypretty Johnny Depp (sporting significant quantities of eye shadow) and Orlando Bloom. Oh, and some bosomy ingenue or other and Geoffrey Rush (looking more than a little embarrassed).
Nearly made up for general vileness of everything else in today's paper.
Have fingers crossed for frilly shirts. But fear that since this is a Bruckheimer movie, the swordfights will be badly shot, there will be too many pointless explosions, and the subtext will be veryveryrightwing. Still, no car chases. That is, I trust there will be no car chases. Hope springs eternal in the human breast.
