I met Hepburn once, about 15 years ago. I was waiting in line to buy tickets to a concert at a church and a Voice behind me said (with that quaver which, on her, sounded chic), "Is this the end of the line?" And I said yes it was, but I thought no one would mind if she went to the head, and she said, "Oh no, that's very kind, but no." So we stood in line and bought our tickets & I didn't have the brains to say another bloody word to her.

She was tiny, barely 5 ft., IIRC.
